Do you plan to visit Barcelona in the coming weeks? Spring is the best time to travel to Barcelona. The sun and beautiful weather take over the city, the terraces come alive again, and it is a good time to explore the city on foot or bicycle. From SB Hotels we recommend a series of parks and gardens to relax and enjoy nature. Do not miss it!

The Parc de la Ciutadella

Located in the heart of the city, it is the perfect park to unfold a tablecloth and have a picnic.

It has an area of more than 17 hectares where you can enjoy its landscape, either on foot or bicycle. You can also enjoy various activities such as a boat ride on its large pond or participate in any of the recreational proposals that are organised regularly in the park, such as concerts or outdoor markets.

Ciutadella

It has more than 100 plant and tree species, some of them centuries-old, in addition to a great diversity of things worth seeing: the monumental waterfall, the giant mammoth statue, 19th-century buildings now converted into museums, sculptures … the park also shares a space with the Barcelona Zoo. If you love this park and want to be close to Barceloneta beach and the Zoo, we have your hotel. Our Hotel SB Icaria 4* is located just a 15-minute walk from the Parc de la Ciutadella.

The Gardens of Joan Maragall

Located in the heart of the Montjuïc mountain, which you can access from the city centre, we find the Jardins de Joan Maragall. This extraordinary place is full of elegance and serenity, where its ample extension, its ornamental fountains and the 32 outdoor sculptures will take you to another era. Surrounded by nature, large flower beds are growing on the sides of its esplanade, showing a good sample of its great biodiversity of plant species, some of them of Mediterranean origin such as holm oak and elm.

The Montjuïc mountain hides other treasures such as the Botanical Garden, the Mossèn Cinto Verdaguer Gardens, the Joan Prats Gardens, the Joan Brossa Gardens, the Barcelona Acclimatisation Garden, the Greek Theatre Gardens, the Mossèn Costa i Llobera Gardens el Park of the Mirador del Migdia and the Laribal Gardens, among others. Given its size and variety, we recommend you plan a day on your calendar to get carried away and lost in its beautiful corners.

Near the mountain of Montjuïc is our Hotel SB Plaza Europa 4*. This modern hotel located in the new financial district of Barcelona, is the ideal option to rest and recover after a day of sightseeing and long walks.

 The Diagonal Mar Park

Diagonal Mar is the second largest park in Barcelona with 340,000 square metres of space. This park is popularly known as the one with giant slides, for the huge metal structures in the shape of a slide that blend with its natural environment, giving it a touch of originality and making it a fun space for the whole family.

Park Güell and the Mercè Rodoreda Gardens

You cannot leave Barcelona without visiting Park Güell. It is the most famous park in the city of Barcelona and was one of the most emblematic works of Antoni Gaudí. With an area of more than 17 hectares, it is covered by undulating shapes, columns that look like trees, animal figures and geometric shapes. One of the most characteristic aspects of this park is that most of the surfaces are decorated with mosaics made with pieces of coloured ceramic.

Park Güell is undoubtedly a magical and peculiar place that surprises its visitors.

Less than a 15-minute walk from the Park Güell, we find the Mercè Rodoreda Gardens. These gardens are a clear literary tribute to the most influential Catalan language writer of the 20th century. The Mercè Rodoreda Gardens are made up exclusively of plants, trees and flowers that were once mentioned in her books, such as camellias, jasmine, mimosa, water lilies and wisteria.

The Garraf Natural Park

The Garraf Natural Park is located between the regions of Baix Llobregat, Alt Penedès and Garraf. Its contrast of colours and clean air makes it one of the most impressive protected areas in Catalonia. This beautiful place is characterised by its steep landscape on its 12,820 hectares and is divided into two large spaces: on the one hand, the one composed of calcareous rock and, on the other, the one formed by reddish conglomerates.
